Position Overview:
Cundaline Resources is currently seeking a Heavy-Duty Fitter to support our operations in the Pilbara. They will provide hands on mechanical servicing to heavy-duty mobile plant with minimal supervision. Carrying out equipment inspections, systems testing, diagnosing of faults, servicing, repairs, and keeping accurate records of all preventative maintenance works.
Key Responsibilities:
Routine Maintenance and Inspections:
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered equipment (e.g., trucks, loaders, drills, and excavators) to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues in heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and identify problems with diesel engines, drive trains, and other mechanical systems.
- Replace worn-out or damaged parts
Perform Welding and Fabrication:
- Use welding and cutting equipment to repair or modify equipment and structures.
- Fabricate custom parts or brackets for machinery as required.
Ensure Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and regulatory requirements for the mining industry.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and wear appropriate protective gear.
Maintain Records and Documentation:
- Document repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used in maintenance logs.
- Update maintenance management systems and report any major repairs or upgrades to supervisors.
Conduct Emergency Repairs:
- Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
- Troubleshoot issues on-site and work in challenging environments.
Collaborate with Other Teams:
- Work with other technicians, engineers, and maintenance personnel to plan and carry out maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and provide recommendations for improving equipment performance or maintenance schedules.
Qualifications:
- Trade certificate and Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology / Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Mobile Plant Mechanic) / Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- 3+ years of general earthwork machinery experience in servicing and repairs
- Full Australian Working Right
- Current HR Driver’s License (essential).
- 4WD Certificate.
- Demonstrated First Fire Attack.
- Hold a Construction Induction Safety Certificate (White Card/Blue Card).
- Competent with using CATERPILLAR ET and SIS, VOLVO Diagnostic equipment Tyre changing cert.
- Demonstrable Relevant Experience with all or most CAT D10 D9 D8 bulldozers, 150 140 graders, 352, 374 excavators, CAT 980, 962 Wheel loaders, VOLVO A60H artic trucks, 6 wheel watercarts fm500, LVs Hilux, Prado
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy – emails and parts requesting.
- Parts requisition.
- Strong Diagnostic skills across mixed fleet hydraulic and electrical.
- HRWL – LF CN – vehicle loading crane.
- Air con ticket.
- Strong Problem solving skills.
- Strong safe working skills – ability to write and contribute to JHAs conduct take 5s.
- Ability to work unsupervised and also well in a small team.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
