The Role:
We’re looking for an incredible leader that can elevate our coffee experience across all of 1 Hotel & Homes Melbourne. Some speciality coffee knowledge, desire to inspire and who has a genuine passion for providing outstanding service to our guests. In this role, you’ll be the curator of a coffee journey that feels both elevated and grounded—bringing excellence to every cup, mentoring your team with care, and ensuring our standards are upheld across the entire hotel operation. You’ll also stay attuned to Melbourne’s vibrant café culture and emerging trends, so our offerings remain fresh, relevant, and inspired.
Most of all, you’ll create moments. From first light to late morning rituals, you’ll help guests feel grounded, connected, and welcomed—one cup at a time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- As Head Barista, you’ll lead with intention and precision, setting the tone for a thoughtfully crafted coffee experience that aligns with our commitment to wellness, sustainability, and community.
- Champion the hotel’s coffee program, from bean to cup, ensuring every detail reflects our standard of mindful luxury.
- Craft elevated espresso and coffee beverages with consistency, care, and creativity.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of baristas—cultivating a culture of warmth, skill, and intuitive service.
- Manage inventory, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
- Engage meaningfully with guests, offering recommendations and moments of connection through every cup.
- Uphold a consistent and professional service standard that aligns with our mission and values.
What We’re Looking For
- We’re seeking someone who’s as passionate about coffee as they are about people, with a dedication to quality and an appreciation for the art of hospitality.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a barista or coffee leadership role within a hospitality setting
- Barista certification or demonstrated expertise in specialty coffee preparation
- Valid Food Safety Handling Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
- Deep understanding of espresso equipment, brewing methods, and coffee trends
- A genuine love for coffee, service, and creating memorable guest experiences
- Calm under pressure, focused in fast-paced environments, and naturally collaborative
