Station Cook
Reporting to the Station Manager you will be required to plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals for staff, guests, and contractors in the station kitchen. This will be a busy position and requires a can-do attitude. The position may be required to fulfil some domestic duties such as preparing rooms for guests.
Responsibilities
• Provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals as required.
• Provide packed lunches for staff as required.
• Prepare suitable meals in advance of taking days off as required.
• Develop nutritious, enjoyable, and efficient menus within budgets.
• Prepare and maintain a clean and inviting dining area.
• Provide tea and coffee making facilities.
• Maintain stock levels to ensure sufficient supplies.
• Order stores using the stores guide provided.
• Ensure food is stored hygienically and in a manner that maintains peak condition.
• Bag and label meat cuts for freezing after butchering.
• Maintain the kitchen, serving areas, dining room, cool room & storeroom in a clean, tidy, and hygienic state.
• Clean and tidy the eating areas and surrounds after each meal.
• Regularly defrost freezers and refrigerators.
• Dispose of rubbish regularly.
• Maintain electrical equipment, cooking equipment and utensils so that they remain clean and in good order.
Health and Safety
• Maintain food handling and health and safety standard requirements under the Food Act 2008.
• Support and contribute to a positive health and safety culture.
• Comply with all requirements of work health and safety legislation and station health and safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.

• Maintaining a high level of communication and liaison with our customers, management, and other team members.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
• Adequate experience or training in food planning and preparation
• Adequate skills and knowledge in food safety and food hygiene matters
• A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
• A genuine passion for cattle and station life.
• Current advanced first aid certificate
