About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail orientated Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team. This permanent role is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of box office journals, reconciliation of ticketing debtors and supporting corporate accounting functions including fixed assets, GST/BAS, capital expenditure, and audits.

 

Key Responsibilities

•  Upload/post Tessitura import files daily and maintain Tessitura/SUN transfer desk and mapping tool (including new GL codes)

•  Post monthly box office journals, capture/deferral of future seasons revenue/costs, and release on commencement

•  Reconcile ticketing, Tourism and credit card debtors; prepare refund reconciliations and royalty calculations

•  Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and profit & loss analysis; investigate variances to forecast

•  Assist with OA annual audit and audits of associated entities

•  Prepare/post GST journals, monthly BAS, FBT and withholding tax returns; complete ABS surveys

•  Manage capital expenditure tracking, budgeting and forecasting

•  Maintain fixed asset register and post depreciation, additions, disposals

•  Post deferral journals for booking and card fees, banking journals, accruals and prepayments

•  Support process improvements, internal controls and finance projects as directed by the Financial Accountant or Senior Finance Manager

 

About You

•  Proven accounting experience with journal posting, reconciliations and reporting

•  Strong Excel skills; knowledge of Tessitura and SunSystems (or similar) desirable

•  Understanding of GST, BAS, FBT and withholding tax

•  Highly organised, detail-focused, strong time management and problem-solving skills

•  Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team

•  Tertiary qualifications in Accounting; CA/CPA studies desirable
