Position Overview
The Maintenance and Modification Officer’s main area of responsibility is to deliver general home maintenance and minor home modifications that promote safety, accessibility, and independence for clients living at home. This includes tasks such as installing safety rails, constructing small access ramps, conducting home safety assessments, and liaising with external professionals such as Occupational Therapists.
This position requires regular travel to clients’ homes across the Brisbane South region. A work vehicle and tools are provided for the completion of duties.
The position requires a combination of practical trade skills, strong interpersonal communication, and a client-centred approach to service delivery. The Officer works independently on-site, with general oversight from the CEO and support from the Maintenance and Modification Team.
Key Responsibilities
• Home Maintenance and Modifications
• Preparation of quotations for client work
• Carry out general home maintenance tasks to improve client safety and access
• Build and install minor modifications such as grab rails, bed risers, steps, and small ramps
• Complete security and safety assessments of client homes and document findings
• Prepare quotes for minor works based on Occupational Therapist or client requests
• Monitor stock levels and advise on reordering of materials and equipment
• Attend to referrals from external agencies, including interpreting Occupational Therapist recommendations
Client and Service Delivery
• Engage with clients to assess their needs and understand how modifications will improve their safety and mobility
• Record client information accurately and update relevant databases
• Ensure timely completion of work within program guidelines and funding requirements
• Provide professional, respectful, and client-centred service at all times
• Identify and report risks, hazards, or issues encountered during home visits
• Follow MGCCI procedures in the event of client concerns or incidents
Administration & Compliance
• Maintain accurate job documentation including materials used, time spent, and before/after images
• Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety standards
• Support reporting requirements by contributing relevant service data and job records
• Participate in team meetings and staff training as required
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safe practices and equipment standards related to aged care and disability services

• External: Occupational Therapists, Suppliers, Clients, Community Partners
