The Role

We are currently seeking a Permanent Part Time Family Contact Youth Worker with a therapeutic, person-centred approach who is:

  • Available to work weekend shifts (every Saturday and Sunday) for family contact
  • Able to work across multiple locations in Sydney
  • Available to undertake Youth Worker shifts in residential homes across Greater Sydney as required

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support contact visits between children and their families (parents, siblings and relatives), ensuring interactions occur in a safe, often community-based setting
  • Play a key role in maintaining family relationships while safeguarding the wellbeing of children in care
  • Provide transport for the young person to and from visits
  • Observe and assess interactions in a non-judgmental manner 
  • Intervene where necessary to protect the child’s welfare 
  • Maintain accurate, objective and detailed reports of each session  \
  • You may also be required to undertake Youth Worker shifts in residential homes across Greater Sydney as required. 

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience of working with young people, families and foster carers
  • Available to work every Saturday and Sunday
  • Available for a minimum of 20 hours per week for a variety of shifts
  • Strong communication, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills are required to manage potentially sensitive family dynamics
  • Competent report writing and record keeping
  • Minimum of a certificate 3 qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or Social Work.
  • NSW Drivers licence, own car with comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
  • WWCC and National Police Check or willing to obtain
  • Willing to be placed on the Residential Care Workers Register
