POSITION SUMMARY
The Content Lead is a key player within the Marketing team at Adelaide Fringe, responsible for developing and implementing the festival’s content strategy, with a strong focus on effective content creation for all digital channels, particularly social media. You’ll work closely with the Performance Marketing Manager to enhance audience engagement, drive website traffic, and foster community growth. This role requires a hands-on approach to content production, a keen eye for detail, and a collaborative spirit to ensure our brand voice resonates across all touchpoints.
ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Department: Digital, Marketing and Ticketing
Internal Liaisons: Heads of Department, Marketing team, Design Studio, Business Development, Ticketing, Artist & Venues team, Finance team, and any other Adelaide Fringe staff as required
External Liaisons: Adelaide Fringe clients including artists, venues, partners, agencies, photography/ videography contractors and external stakeholders, Adelaide Fringe corporate partners, government bodies, local businesses, corporate membership groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with the Performance Marketing Manager and external agencies to develop and implement Adelaide Fringe’s digital marketing and content strategies, ensuring alignment with brand values, marketing objectives, and audience growth targets.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive content calendar, ensuring timely delivery and optimal scheduling of campaigns and other content aligned with Adelaide Fringe’s event calendar.
- Identify and propose innovative content ideas and formats that resonate with diverse audiences and leverage emerging trends in digital media and social applications.
- Write and submit studio campaign briefs following appropriate processes and approvals.
- Act as a strong brand guardian, meticulously ensuring all content consistently adheres to Adelaide Fringe’s brand identity, tone of voice, and visual guidelines across all touchpoints.
Content Creation & Management
- Lead the creation and development of high-quality, engaging content for all Adelaide Fringe digital and social platforms, including dynamic written copy, graphics, and video.
- In liaison with the marketing team, plan and coordinate year-round touchpoints within the existing marketing content calendar.
- Champion strong copywriting skills, ensuring all written content is clear, compelling, and effectively communicates the Fringe’s unique voice and story to diverse audiences.
- Oversee and manage the Adelaide Fringe photo and video library, ensuring accurate archiving and accessibility for organisational use.
- Act as a key liaison between Adelaide Fringe and outsourced photography/videography contractors and agencies, assisting in the management of content-related projects and campaigns.
- Actively seek and foster opportunities for engaging social media content and collaborations with Fringe artists, partners, and audience segments to leverage community engagement.
- Monitor digital and social media trends, providing insights and recommendations for optimising content performance and identifying new opportunities.
Campaign Management
- Work closely with the Business Development and Marketing teams to creatively ideate, develop, and deliver highly engaging content for partner-related marketing campaigns.
- Development and implementation of key Adelaide Fringe marketing campaigns (e.g., Poster Competition, Artists & Venues, Grant Recipients, Honey Pot, Volunteer recruitment).
- Develop, communicate, and monitor content and campaign timelines and targets, working collaboratively with internal departments.
- Provide regular content performance reports to the Marketing Manager and Head of Department, offering insights and recommendations for optimisation.
Other
- Provide guidance and support to interns as required, contributing to their development and ensuring high-quality output.
- Collaborate effectively with the Digital Communications Coordinator and other team members, sharing best practices and supporting collective goals.
- Understand and comply with all Adelaide Fringe policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Ensure all expenses are approved and recorded in line with Adelaide Fringe and Marketing team procedures.
- Act as an ambassador for the organizational culture and values, ensuring they are upheld and embedded.
- Embrace and effectively utilize online organization project management software and CRM systems.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in content creation and implementation, preferably within a marketing or communications team.
- Demonstrated experience in photography and videography capture and editing.
- Experience in video production, including filming, editing and distribution across various channels.
- Proven experience developing and executing engaging content for social media campaigns across platforms.
- Proficiency in using social media management platforms such as Loomly, Hootsuite, or similar.
- Ability to build rapport and effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, including artists, agents, not-for-profits, and corporate partners.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and assist with other duties as required.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Tertiary or similar qualifications in media arts, communications, marketing, journalism or a related creative field.
- A strong understanding of marketing principles, with prior experience in the arts, events, or entertainment industry highly regarded.
