We are on the lookout for an experienced Soil & Concrete Technician (Technical Officer) to work in our Toowoomba Laboratory. You will be responsible for completing Field & Laboratory materials testing in accordance with the Australian and TMR standards.

The role
Reporting to the Team Leader/Lab Manager, your primary focus will be to carry out hands on soil & concrete testing work on some of the biggest land development projects in Toowoomba and surrounds with the opportunity to travel regionally to service projects in the future.
In this role, you will collaborate with our clients and develop positive ongoing working relationships. You will work in the field and within our laboratory without supervision and will work as a team with our other Soil Techs to ensure accurate and timely results.

You could enroll in a Diploma of Laboratory Technology, setting you on the path to becoming a Senior Technician or future Lab Manager. Alternatively, you might dive deeper into geotechnical engineering, benefiting from the mentorship of our experienced registered Professional Engineer. The choice is yours, and the possibilities are endless.
Working Monday to Friday, our standard day starts at 7am.
You will:
- Have experience in AS & TMR standards for soil and/or concrete testing
- Complete field & laboratory testing within timeframes and in accordance with standards and regulations
- Carry out equipment checks and review calibration reports for errors or inconsistencies and identify any non-conformance
- Supervise and mentor junior team members in the field & laboratory
- Always follow all personal workplace safety, quality assurance and NATA guidelines
- Assist Senior Technicians and Laboratory Manager as required
In order to be successful in this role you will:
- Have experience in a similar role
- Have a sound understanding of soil/concrete test methods and requirements
- Hold (or currently studying) a Certificate 3 in Laboratory Skills
- Enjoy being out & about performing active and manual work
- Be enthusiastic and motivated to work both unsupervised and as part of a small dynamic team
- Be able to uphold safety standards and company policy
- Hold or be willing to obtain a Nuclear density gauge licence (NDMG)
- Hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Hold a Construction Safety ‘white card’
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment
Desirable skills / experience (not essential)
- Level 1 Inspection and Testing for bulk earthworks in accordance with AS3798
- Geotechnical drilling / site classification
- Experience with the AS1141 series methods
- GeoTester LIMS software
