GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

Position Purpose
The role of the Management Accountant is responsible for developing and reporting on a budget and forecast, undertaking analysis on trends and variances, providing accounting support in monthly closing and reporting & monitoring financial performance. The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, funding requirements and contracts. The Management Accountant develops, maintains and supports appropriate internal controls, financial procedures and regulatory compliance mechanisms regarding the financial functions of the organisation.
Key Selection Criteria
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards (AASB, GAAP etc) with relevant work experience in accounting roles. Work experience in a NFP is desirable, but not a requirement.
• Demonstrated experience in financial and management reporting, including budgeting, analysis, forecasting and liaison with budget owners.
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining an accurate general ledger and performing reconciliations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central desirable)
• Strong excel skills and an aptitude for data analysis with high levels of attention to detail
• Understanding of not-for-profit operations and culture including ACNC standard accounts and reporting expectations.
• Demonstrated commitment to a learning service lead culture and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships/partnerships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and responsively in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
• Degree qualification in accounting/finance ESSENTIAL
• Working towards a CPA, ACMA, CGMA or CA registration or equivalent ESSENTIAL
• Valid driver’s licence ESSENTIAL
• A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
• A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
