Head of Litigation
Position Overview:
The Role:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Litigation to oversee and manage all litigation services within their department. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our legal approach, managing complex caseloads, and mentoring a team of solicitors and trainee solicitors.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the Litigation department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
• Oversee a diverse caseload including:
– Housing disrepair claims
– Tenancy deposit disputes
– Enforcement actions
– General Litigation
• Develop litigation strategies, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legal obligations.
• Provide expert legal advice to clients and internal teams.
• Manage and support team through supervision, training, and development.
• Liaise with external counsel, courts, and other stakeholders as necessary.
• Contribute to business development and the strategic growth of the litigation practice.
Requirements:
• Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales) with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in litigation, ideally with a strong background in housing law.
• Proven experience managing a legal team or department.
• Expertise in housing disrepair, tenancy deposit claims, and enforcement procedures.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
• A proactive, strategic mindset with a passion for access to justice.
