We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Deputy COLP to support the firm’s COLP in ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations and maintaining our risk and compliance framework. This is a pivotal role helping to ensure the firm continues to operate to the highest professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the COLP in monitoring the firm’s compliance with regulatory obligations.

• Conduct file reviews and audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

• Promote a culture of regulatory compliance.

• Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant legal and regulatory standards.

• Conduct regular internal compliance audits

• Record and report on audit findings to identify and address potential issues/areas of improvement.

• Keep up to date with changes in laws, regulations, and industry’s best practices and recommended improvements that may impact the business.

• Assist in providing guidance and training to legal and non-legal staff on compliance-related matters.

• Assist in the investigation and resolution of compliance concerns, complaints, and violations.

• Collaborate with colleagues at all levels across the business to address and mitigate compliance risks.

• Assist to monitor and report on compliance performance to senior management.

• Assist in maintaining and updating key compliance records and registers.

• Assist in monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of the firm’s compliance systems.

• Assist in meeting strict quality assurance systems in order to maintain the firm’s quality standards accreditations.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in law, business, or a related field, or fee earner of similar standing.

• 3+ years PQE.

• Experience in a compliance role within a legal practice preferred.

• Strong knowledge of legal regulations and standards.

• A previous background in civil litigation and a good working knowledge and understanding of Pre Action Protocols and Civil Procedure Rules

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, trust and credibility and to manage sensitive and confidential information.
