Position Overview:
The Role:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Litigation to oversee and manage all litigation services within the candidates departments. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our legal approach, managing complex caseloads, and mentoring a team of solicitors and trainee solicitors.
Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Litigation Department.
• Direct and support teams handling complex litigation, with a focus on:
– Housing disrepair claims
– Tenancy deposit disputes
– Enforcement actions
– General Litigation
• Lead on legal strategy, policy development, and service innovation.
• Ensure legal compliance and excellence in client care across all casework.
• Manage, mentor and develop a high-performing team of solicitors, caseworkers, and trainees.
• Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including courts, regulators, partner organisations, and funders.
• Monitor KPIs, budgets, and risk management processes.
• Represent the organisation in senior-level forums, legal networks, and public engagements.
Requirements:
• Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales), with significant post-qualification experience (7+ years PQE)
• Proven leadership in a senior legal or litigation role.
• Knowledge of housing law, particularly disrepair, tenancy deposits, and enforcement litigation.
• Strong understanding of case management systems, legal compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
• Inspirational leader with excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• Passionate about access to justice, client empowerment, and social impact.
