About the Senior Risk Analyst Role
The primary purpose of this role is to lead ZEN in managing and mitigating risk within the wholesale energy markets by collaborating closely with the trading and risk management teams, analysing market data, evaluating potential risks, and implementing strategies to optimize trading.

Reporting to the Manager Risk Analytics & Reporting, this role touches key functions in the ZEN business, with a concurrent focus on fostering a growth oriented, positive, and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures, and guidelines
What we will ask you to do:
Risk Analytics
• Develop, own, and maintain the controls, processes, and systems to deliver the analytical functions from a governance perspective (SIM Energy / other ETRM system)
• Drive the ongoing development and improvement of market risk and credit risk measurement tools and appropriate reporting of risk factors to electricity, environmental products, and other relevant products.
• Building risk models to evaluate the range of potential financial outcomes from ZEN’s hedging strategies
• Maintenance and upgrade of systems and methodologies for the valuation of derivatives for mark-to-market
• Independent risk reviews on structured transactions such as new build generation investments, new products, and other transactions
• Operate and upgrade tools and methodologies for credit risk assessments of wholesale trading counterparties
• Market Monitoring: Monitor market movements and regulatory changes to identify emerging risks and make informed trading decisions.
• Data Analysis: Utilize advanced analytical tools to interpret large datasets, generating insights that drive risk management strategies.
• Risk Mitigation: Implement risk mitigation techniques, ensuring the company’s exposure to market fluctuations is effectively managed.
• Collaborative Approach: Work closely with the trading and broader risk management teams to provide risk insights and support strategic decision-making.

Skills and Experience
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Wholesale Energy.
• Tertiary skills in engineering, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative discipline.
• Prior risk analysis experience is desirable.
Technical Capabilities
• Proficiency in using statistical methods.
• Proficiency in programming languages, including Python, SQL, and PowerBI
• Proficiency in Microsoft suite including but not limited to excel, PowerPoint, word etc.
• Proficiency in using databases.
• Intermediate proficiency in Reporting tools preferred.
