Welcome back to the second edition of the 2025 Employment Hero product update, where we share all of our latest and greatest updates from the past month.

In February, we added a brand new passwordless login for an easier and more secure login experience, expanded functionality in our offboarding workflows, made enhancements to our leave management module, plus so much more. It’s all in here and ready for you to use in-platform. Let’s get to it. 🚀

Say hello to an easier and safer way to log in with a passwordless login

Available on all plans

We’re dedicated to making our software the most safe and secure it can possibly be, which is why we’ve introduced passkeys, a simple and secure way to log into Employment Hero via a passwordless login.

Passkeys can be added and removed in account settings, and users will receive email confirmation any time these settings are changed.

We’ve expanded functionality for offboarding workflows

Available on the following plans: Classic: Platinum, EOS: PlusUnlimited

When an employee leaves the business, it’s essential you’re across their offboarding admin. To make this time-consuming process easier and faster, we’ve improved the offboarding workflow functionality.

Admins can now define the type of termination that has occurred and notify relevant departments accordingly. The new functionality also allows admins to create custom offboarding workflows for each different type of termination, such as create tasks and schedule exit interviews.

We’ve added security improvements for inactive users

Available on all plans

We’ve recently made some security improvements to Employment Hero for inactive users.

Now, if a user has not been active for 12 months or longer, they’ll be required to enter a verification code. This will occur when a user has entered their login details correctly, but doesn’t have two-factor authentication (2FA) active on their account.

You can now mention an entire team in company shout outs and announcements

Available on all plans

When a big project is complete, we know there’s a lot of people to thank for their hard work.

Our newest product update means that entire teams can now be acknowledged in a shout out or an announcement via the company feed.

Simply mention the team in an announcement and shout out, and never miss acknowledging a key team player again.

We’ve made enhancements to leave management

Available on all plans

We’ve improved the search functionality for leave balances to give users a better, more intuitive experience that mirrors the functionality on the leave calendar.

Plus, we’ve given users with permissions to manage leave the ability to customise their view by filtering the leave calendar by leave type.

Employees will now have a smoother experience within the bank details section of the onboarding process

During onboarding, employees are required to fill in their personal information, including their bank account details for their pay to be deposited into.

Now, employees will be notified immediately if the bank details they have entered are incorrect, ensuring a smoother onboarding experience.

You can now add working hours to casual and temporary job types for smarter hiring

Whenever you’re hiring, being clear about the requirements and expectations of the role is key to bringing the right people on board.

With this latest update, you can now specify working hours in job ads whether your vacancy is a casual or temporary contract. This ensures job seekers receive accurate information about working hours, which is also reflected in SmartMatch talent searches.

Australian businesses can now reward their UK employees

Available on all plans

Rewarding and recognising your team is the key to a high-performing team. That’s why we’re excited to announce that Australian businesses who have UK employees can now reward them with Hero Points.

This means that Admins of Australian organisations can now view, purchase and distribute Hero Points to their UK employees.

You can also update these team members rewards and recognition settings, e.g. distribute Hero Points for their birthdays and work anniversaries.

We’ve revamped our Hero Point recognition reminders

Available on the following plans: All plans

We’ve revamped the emails that get sent to your employees when they receive Hero Points. Now, they’ll have an overview including details of their recognition, their current Hero Points balance and some handy links to Benefits for them to purchase something with their points.
