Yes. Employment Hero acquired Humi in 2025, and Humi now operates under the Employment Hero brand in Canada. Today, we offer two products:
Employment Operating System: Our new all-in-one HR, payroll, scheduling and people management platform for Canadian businesses.
Humi by Employment Hero: A fully supported product for existing Humi customers and our Quebec-compliant solution.
Employment Hero Holdings Pty Ltd is a privately held Australian company co-founded by Ben Thompson (CEO) and Dave Tong (CTO). In March 2025, we purchased Toronto-based Humi.
Employment Hero was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2014. We’ve since then expanded our operations to New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and now, Canada. Our Canadian presence is built on the strong foundation of Humi, a Toronto-based HR platform founded in 2016. We acquired Humi in 2025 to combine our global technology with nearly a decade of deep local expertise.

Employment Hero made the decision to retain the Humi brand for Québec to maintain compliance with language requirements, data privacy and province-specific payroll calculations (QPP, CNESST, QHSF). In simple terms, Humi by Employment Hero is set up to support Québec-based businesses with compliance.

We centralize the employee life-cycle: recruiting, onboarding, document e-sign, time-off, scheduling, payroll, performance reviews, benefits enrollment, learning and analytics—all accessible via web or mobile app. We help small-to-medium businesses to free up time on repetitive or compliance heavy admin tasks so they can spend more time working on their business.
Depending on what plan you sign-up for you’ll have access to different features within the platform for your team. Our business specialists are happy to consult with you on what would work best for your business, team size and growth ambitions. Once you’re ready to progress, our Implementations team will be on hand to help with the setup, integration and change management process. They’ll help you to create an account, add employees (or import from Excel/CSV), configure payroll rules and turn on the modules you need. Humi rebrand and transition questions
Yes. As of April 2025, Humi is part of the Employment Hero family. We are excited to join two companies with a shared commitment to the small business community.
While you will see a small name change to ‘Humi by Employment Hero,’ don’t worry – it’s the same great HR platform and team you know! We look forward to bringing you even more valuable resources and innovation as we grow.
Absolutely. Our support team includes Canadian employees from coast to coast who understand the local market, legislation and day-to-day realities of running a business in Canada.
Existing Humi contracts are honoured until renewal. For customers on month-to-month plans, pricing will remain the same unless otherwise communicated. Any changes, if applicable, will be shared clearly and in advance.
Canadian compliance
Employment Hero has compliance built into the platform to help make employing and paying your team easier, no matter which province you operate in. Our tools are designed to support Canadian employment standards and reduce the administrative burden of managing compliance across different jurisdictions.
Absolutely. The “Humi by Employment Hero” stack is designed specifically for Québec, handling QPP/QPIP, CNESST, QHSF calculations and the 1% Workforce Skills Development & Recognition Fund (WSDRF) tax. It also produces French Relevé-1/RL-1 slips.
Your data security is our top priority. We hold key security certifications, including ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27017:2015, and ISO 27018:2019, we are also GDPR compliant and we have completed an independent SOC 2 Type II audit in August 2025. All our security information is available in our Employment Hero CA Trust Center (Canada) and Humi by Employment Hero Trust Center (Quebec).
Support and service levels
All customers have access to our Help Centre where they can connect with our Canadian support team, made up of employees from coast to coast who understand the local market, legislation and day-to-day realities of running a business in Canada.
Yes. HR & Employment Advisory services are included with our Employment Unlimited plan and can also be added on to any other plan. The service gives you access to HR experts for practical, Canadian-focused guidance, including support with employment compliance, workplace issues, policy reviews, and legislative updates.
