🚀 The Opportunity:

We’re building a next-generation platform for live sports augmentation, working alongside the distribution ecosystems of the world’s top leagues and broadcasters (NBA NFL MLB Disney ESPN NBC and more).

This role is not about backend services. You will design and build real world video distribution pipelines – mirroring with production-grade systems used by major broadcasters – enabling us to ingest, process, package and deliver streams with full control and observability.

We’re looking for a been-there-done-that-engineer who can take ownership of complex streaming systems end-to-end and make them work reliably under real production constraints.

🎯 Your Mission:

  • Design and build video distribution pipelines (e.g., SRT ingest → encoding → HLS/DASH packaging)
  • Implement encoding, transcoding, and packaging workflows
  • Generate and manage manifests and metadata (HLS/DASH manifests, DRM signalling, timed metadata like ID3/SCTE etc)
  • Build systems to simulate real-world distribution environments for testing and integration
  • Develop backend services (e.g., Node.js or similar) to orchestrate and control workflows
  • Build and manage cloud infrastructure to support streaming pipelines
  • Integrate with internal systems (augmentation, timing, metadata) and external distribution workflows

About You:

You’ve built streaming systems that work in the real world. You’re comfortable with production constraints, care about reliability and observability, and enjoy taking ownership of complex pipelines end-to-end – making them robust, testable, and scalable.

📝 Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Strong experience in video streaming systems
  • Deep understanding of:
    • HLS/DASH
    • Live ingest protocols (SRT/RTMP)
  • Encoding / transcoding pipelines
  • Experience with manifest generation and metadata
    • DRM (Widevine / FairPlay / PlayReady – at least conceptually)
    • ID3 / SCTE / timed metadata
  • Strong backend development experience (Node.js or similar)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS)
  • Infrastructure design and scaling
  • Solid DevOps capabilities: deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, reliability/performance tuning

Desirable

  • Experience with broadcast or OTT distribution systems
  • Familiarity with MediaKind / AWS Media Services / similar platforms
  • Experience building test/simulation environments for streaming workflows
  • Understanding of low-latency streaming (LL-HLS, CMAF etc)
