Senior Solutions and Infra Engineer
Location: Kent Office (With travel to client locations, other OIG sites and facilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (0900 to 1730) plus travel as required
Role Summary
The Senior Solutions and Infra Engineer acts as the technical bridge between teams.
This role will take ownership of the solutions aspects of customer and infrastructure projects, ensuring solutions are deliverable, supportable and aligned to Orbital’s standards.
The role has significant responsibility for Points of Presence, Orbital Internet Group’s Telephone Exchanges, WiMAX Repeater Sites, Infrastructure and Enterprise Customer Networks, providing technical guidance throughout the lifecycle from pre-sales and design through to deployment, support and continual improvement.
Working closely with multiple teams, the Senior Solutions and Infra Engineer will help shape standards, installation methodologies, operational processes, product development and technical documentation while increasing technical capability across WAN, VoIP and Small Business Enterprise Networking solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Project Ownership
- Provide solutions ownership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as the primary technical interface between Sales, Project Management, Service Delivery and Engineering teams.
- Support project scoping, solution validation, solution design review and delivery assurance; acting as a conduit for subject matter experts.
- Ensure solution risks are identified, documented and mitigated.
- Drive projects from concept through to successful operational handover.
Telephone Exchange & Infrastructure Ownership
- Maintain technical oversight of Orbital’s exchange environments and infrastructure assets.
- Support exchange modernisation, resilience improvements and network expansion initiatives.
- Own infrastructure standards relating to exchange deployments, rack installations, power systems and structured cabling.
- Work alongside Network Operations to ensure infrastructure remains scalable, secure and operationally efficient.
WiMAX & Repeater Network Ownership
- Take technical ownership of WiMAX repeater sites and associated wireless infrastructure.
- Support planning, deployment and optimisation of wireless access networks.
- Support defining standards for repeater installations, backhaul connectivity and customer delivery methods.
- Review site performance and recommend improvements to capacity, resilience and coverage.
Pre-Sales Services & Solution Support
- Provide technical support to Sales teams during customer engagements and bid activities.
- Create with technical solution designs; working with subject matter experts to identify the best overall solution for client, performing feasibility reviews and customer requirements gathering.
- Support Service Delivery teams with complex provisioning, migrations and customer onboarding.
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and delivery challenges.
Standards, Processes & Documentation
- Support defining and maintaining technical standards across engineering and service delivery functions.
- Develop installation guides, build standards, methods of procedure (MOPs) and technical documentation.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation, automation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure consistent delivery methodologies across acquired businesses and engineering teams.
Solution Capability Development
- Help develop team capability across Orbital’s technologies.
- Mentor teams through technical coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Support internal training programmes, workshops and certification pathways.
- Encourage best practice and technical excellence across all engineering disciplines.
Enterprise Networking & Voice Solutions
- Provide technical leadership for SMB and enterprise networking solutions.
- Support deployment standards for Orbital’s Product and Services
- Ensure solutions are scalable, supportable and aligned with operational standards.
