Description

Summary

As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and growing the company’s GIS business across the UK and Ireland. Working closely with major transmission and distribution network operators, BESS developers, data centre operators and other key infrastructure customers, you will identify new opportunities, develop strategic customer relationships and manage complex sales processes from opportunity identification through to contract award.

This is a customer-facing role with significant autonomy, offering the opportunity to shape the commercial success of a new product line within a rapidly evolving market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive order intake by identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities with both existing and prospective customers.
  • Expand the customer base through proactive business development, relationship management and strategic sales activities.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies and customer engagement plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead vendor registration and pre-qualification activities to position the business for future tenders.
  • Review and analyse commercial and technical tender documentation and develop winning bid strategies.
  • Support the preparation of commercial and technical proposals in collaboration with engineering and bid teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across the utility and energy sectors.
  • Monitor market activity, competitor developments and project pipelines to identify future opportunities.
  • Take ownership of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Support project handover and maintain customer relationships throughout project delivery where required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and ethical business standards.
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support the continued growth of the business.

Key Customers

You will be responsible for developing relationships with:

  • Transmission System Operators (TSOs)
  • Distribution Network Operators (DNOs)
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developers
  • Data centre developers and operators
  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractors
  • Other strategic infrastructure customers across the UK & Ireland

Typical customers include organisations such as National Grid, Scottish Power Energy Networks, SSE, ESB and other major utility and infrastructure companies.

Essential Experience

  • Experience selling high-voltage switchgear or related electrical transmission equipment.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to engage confidently with engineering teams and customers.
  • Proven track record of winning business through major tenders, frameworks, RFQs and RFPs.
  • Experience working with utilities, TSOs, DNOs, EPC contractors or similar infrastructure customers.
  • Commercially focused with excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to develop long-term customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK & Ireland.

Desirable Experience

  • Existing relationships within National Grid, Scottish Power Energy Networks, SSE, ESB or other utility organisations.
  • Knowledge of the UK grid connection process.
  • Experience supporting BESS or data centre projects.
