This role involves leading complex projects end-to-end, mentoring team members, and partnering with senior business stakeholders to translate strategic requirements into scalable data solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key driver in the design, scaling, and governance of our core data platform:

  • Design, build, and deploy highly scalable and resilient ELT pipelines and data transformation architectures.
  • Architect and govern the Snowflake data warehouse environment, implementing advanced performance tuning and cost optimisation strategies.
  • Establish best practices and technical standards for dbt modeling, ensuring data quality, lineage, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Define and implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks to ensure maximum platform reliability and stability.
  • Own the technical roadmap for data governance, reliability, security, and observability across the entire data ecosystem.
  • Collaborate and influence senior stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, Product, and Operations to shape the overall data strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Data Engineers on design patterns, complex problem-solving, and code reviews.

What You’ll Need

Deep expertise and a proven track record with:

  • Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and governance.
  • dbt (dbt core or dbt Cloud) and establishing rigorous data modeling and quality standards.
  • Advanced SQL and Python for building complex, production-grade data applications.
  • Designing and operating robust ELT / ingestion tooling and frameworks.
  • Extensive experience designing, securing, and operating cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).

Highly Desirable

  • Experience managing and optimising Airbyte or equivalent ingestion platforms in a production environment.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS S3 and related storage best practices.
  • Expertise in Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) concepts.
  • Experience with Tableau or equivalent BI tooling, specifically in optimising data sources for large-scale reporting.
  • Specialised experience building or auditing core revenue or finance reporting datasets.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A strategic and delivery-focused leader, comfortable driving technical roadmaps in a dynamic scale-up environment.
  • Exceptional at communicating complex technical concepts and influencing decision-making among both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive in identifying architectural risks, defining system gaps, and driving fundamental improvements across the data ecosystem.
  • Comfortable owning the full lifecycle of complex technical problems, from conceptual design and stakeholder alignment to final resolution.
  • Able to operate effectively and collaboratively within a distributed, remote-first team setting, acting as a technical resource for others.
