The Story of Emily is a fresh, immersive historical experience that brings to life the courage and impact of Emily Hobhouse. A woman ahead of her time, Emily defied Victorian norms and challenged injustice, advocating for thousands of women and children during the Second Anglo-Boer War.

Step inside her childhood home, a meticulously restored Victorian Rectory, and experience life as she knew it in 1875. Then, journey through our War Rooms, where history meets cutting-edge technology in an immersive, sensory-rich retelling of her extraordinary mission.

With a beautiful on-site Restaurant offering South African heritage dishes, The Story of Emily is a place of discovery, inspiration, and conversation.

The Role

Our Guest Experience Hosts are the first and last point of contact for our visitors, ensuring a warm welcome and an unforgettable visit. This varied role includes greeting guests, managing admissions, operating interactive exhibits, assisting with accessibility, supporting our small retail space, and even helping in the gardens.

We are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable individuals with a passion for history and hospitality, who take pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in a customer-facing role (preferred)
• A natural ability to engage with guests and provide excellent service
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Calm and professional under pressure
• Awareness of health, safety, and security considerations
