About this role
We are seeking a motivated Junior Proposal Engineer to support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for water and wastewater projects. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with proposal and project engineers to develop accurate, competitive tender submissions that meet client requirements and deadlines.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to build experience in estimating, tendering, and project coordination within a collaborative team environment.
What you’ll do
- Assist in the preparation of technical and commercial proposals
- Review client specifications, tender documents, and project requirements
- Compile proposal documentation, schedules, and submission packages
- Support responses to client queries and bid clarifications
- Obtain pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates for equipment and materials
- Maintain pricing databases and estimating tools
- Assist with budget development and cost comparisons
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations and technical information
- Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and project teams
- Support resolution of technical and commercial issues during bid preparation
- Contribute to the development of proposal templates and tools
- Assist project teams with large variation orders as required
What we are looking for
- Degree (or similar) in Mechanical, Process or Chemical Engineering.
- 1-2 years of engineering experience (water and wastewater projects are preferrable)
- Previous experience in estimating project costs (preferrable)
- Knowledge of procurement processes related to a manufacturing workshop (preferrable)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and time management
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Full unrestricted Australian working right
The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment medical check and provide a National Police Clearance.
