STUDENT FINANCE OFFICER

Location: Manchester

Reporting to: Head of Finance

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Student Finance Officer to join our Finance team in Manchester. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in supporting the administration and management of student finance processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and excellent customer service

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional guidance to students regarding tuition fee funding, eligibility and financial support options.

• Assist students with complex funding issues, including appeals, additional year funding and exceptional cases

• Support students in understanding funding requirements, evidence submission and timelines

• Review and verify student funding evidence to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

• Monitor funding statuses and follow up on pending or unresolved cases

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of funding approvals, declines and outstanding cases

• Take ownership of complex or escalated student finance cases

• Work collaboratively with Registry and Finance teams to resolve issues efficiently and escalate issues where necessary and follow through to resolution

• Identify areas for improvement in funding verification processes

• Support implementation of new processes to reduce delays in funding approval

• Prepare regular reports on funding verification progress and outstanding cases

• Analyse trends and identify risks relating to student funding

• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection regulations

Key Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a Student Finance role, preferably within a higher education environment.

• Experience working with student finance systems or within higher education administration

• Strong understanding of Student Finance England (SFE) processes and funding rules

• Experience handling complex casework and problem resolution

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
