Job Purpose

The Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors, delivering a professional, friendly, and efficient front‑of‑house service. This role supports the smooth running of campus operations through administrative duties, excellent customer service, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

Front Desk & Customer Service

• Provide a warm and professional welcome to all students, visitors, and staff.

• Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and face‑to‑face enquiries promptly and courteously.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and professional reception area.

• Direct students and visitors to appropriate departments.

Administrative Support

• Carry out clerical tasks such as filing, printing, data entry, and record maintenance.

• Assist with scheduling appointments, interviews, and room bookings.

• Support academic and student services teams during busy periods.

• Handle confidential information securely and professionally.

Operational Support

• Monitor the reception inbox and telephone line, ensuring timely responses.

• Maintain visitor logs and ensure compliance with sign‑in procedures.

• Assist with events, enrolment periods, induction, and examinations where required.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Excellent phone etiquette and professional email communication.

• Proven administrative experience in a fast‑paced environment.

• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.

• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Desirable Requirements
