Description

Please note that this is a full-time, fixed term role until May 2027, which may extend pending funding. The post is based on-site in Wolverhampton, and requires travel across the city.

The Haven Wolverhampton is the city’s leading provider of Domestic Abuse support and safe accommodation services for women and children, and our specialist Children and Young People’s Services is growing!

The Haven Wolverhampton’s Children and Young People’s Practitioners are responsible for providing trauma-informed, child-centred support to children and young people, aged 0-17, who have experienced domestic abuse and adversity. The role focuses on promoting emotional, social, and developmental recovery through one-to-one and group interventions, play-based and therapeutic activities, and collaborative multi-agency working. Together with the wider CYP Service, the postholder will create safe, nurturing environments that enable children and young people to express themselves, build resilience, and improve their wellbeing, while supporting positive transitions and recovery journeys within refuge settings.

Principle Accountability

  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions for children and young people aged 0–17, using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
  • Build safe, consistent, and trusting relationships that support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and recovery
  • Assess needs and develop, implement, and review individual support plans in collaboration with children and families
  • Support key transitions, including entry into refuge, moves between services, and engagement with education Facilitate play-based, sensory, creative, and therapeutic activities to promote emotional expression and development Ensure safeguarding is prioritised at all times, including risk management, safeguarding referral completion, and liaison with statutory services such as Children’s Social Care
  • Work collaboratively with families and external professionals to ensure high-quality, child-centred support
  • Monitor and record progress using case management systems, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  • Contribute to outcome monitoring, data collection, and reporting requirements in line with organisational and funder expectations
  • Maintain safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environments across all service settings
