At Grass Hoppers Tingley, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Manager to lead our vibrant indoor play and catering operation. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a successful, fast-paced business area where no two days are ever the same.
🦗 About the Role
📍This role will be mainly based from Tingley Garden Centre, but has exciting involvement in working across our Grass Hoppers in Tong & Otley Garden Centres too!
🦗 As Grass Hoppers Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of one of our busiest family attractions, ensuring every customer enjoys a fun, safe and memorable experience.
You’ll lead a large team, oversee operational performance and maintain exceptional standards across both our play and catering operations. Whether you’re supporting your team during a busy weekend, reviewing performance, planning ahead for peak periods or ensuring compliance standards are met, you’ll play a key role in the success of the business.
This is a hands-on management role that requires energy, flexibility and a genuine passion for people.
💡 What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, motivating and developing a large team of supervisors and team members
- Managing the daily operation of play sessions, parties and food service
- Delivering exceptional customer experiences and service standards
- Ensuring the highest levels of health & safety, food hygiene and compliance
- Managing rotas, labour costs, stock control and operational budgets
- Planning and preparing for busy trading periods and seasonal peaks
- Handling customer feedback and resolving issues professionally
- Driving team engagement, accountability and performance
- Being a visible and supportive leader for both colleagues and customers
✅ What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a confident and adaptable leader who can demonstrate:
- Previous management experience within hospitality, leisure, attractions, retail or a similar customer-facing environment
- Strong catering knowledge and understanding of food safety standards
- A solid understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance
- Excellent people management and communication skills
- The ability to remain calm, organised and effective during busy periods
- Strong commercial awareness and operational decision-making skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a positive attitude
- Flexibility to work 31.75 hours per week, including alternate weekends

Grass Hoppers is part of our growing play and leisure group, with successful sites at Tong and Tingley, alongside an exciting new location opening in Otley. We also operate Mission Out Tingley, which forms part of our wider Play team.
Our teams work closely together across all locations, sharing ideas, supporting one another and delivering the very best experience for our guests. Flexibility is important, and occasional support across sites may be required.
This role reports directly to the Group Play Manager and is supported by two Supervisors and a large team of dedicated team members.
