Description

We’re looking for a confident, experienced Kitchen Supervisor to take the lead in our busy Grass Hoppers kitchen within our garden centre soft play area.

This is not an entry-level role — we need someone who can step straight in, take ownership of the kitchen, and lead the team to consistently deliver high standards in food quality, safety, and service.

Our menu focuses on popular family favourites such as jacket potatoes, nuggets, pizzas, toasties, and paninis, but standards remain just as important as in any professional kitchen.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead from the front: Take day-to-day control of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service and consistently high food quality
  • Drive standards: Maintain excellent food hygiene, allergen awareness, and compliance with all food safety regulations
  • Support and develop the team: Train, guide, and motivate team members to work efficiently and safely
  • Quality control: Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the required standard every time
  • Kitchen organisation: Keep the kitchen clean, well-stocked, and running efficiently at all times
  • Manage pressure: Stay calm and organised during busy periods, especially weekends and school holidays
  • Continuous improvement: Identify ways to improve processes, reduce waste, and raise overall standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven kitchen experience in a supervisory or senior role
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene, safety, and allergen management
  • Confidence in leading a team and working independently
  • Ability to organise, prioritise, and maintain standards under pressure
  • A proactive, hands-on approach — you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves
  • Reliable, responsible, and committed to high standards

Hours & Schedule

  • Term time: 22.75 hours per week
  • School holidays: 26.5 hours per week
  • Includes alternate weekends
  • No late nights — kitchen closes at 3:30pm
