Role Overview

The Warehouse and Facilities Operative will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Gateshead site, supporting the safe receipt, storage, and dispatch of stock, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning working environment. This is a hands-on role suited to a reliable, practical individual who takes pride in keeping operations running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

• Receive, check, and put away incoming deliveries in line with warehouse procedures
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders accurately and on schedule for dispatch
• Load and unload vehicles safely, using appropriate handling equipment
• Maintain accurate stock records and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager

Facilities Maintenance

• Carry out routine checks and minor repairs across the site, escalating larger issues as needed
• Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of warehouse, yard, and communal areas
• Support the setup and breakdown of equipment and workspaces as required
• Assist with waste management, recycling, and general site upkeep

Health & Safety

• Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe use of manual handling and equipment
• Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly
• Keep fire exits, walkways, and emergency equipment clear and accessible
• Support compliance with site risk assessments and safety audits

Stock & Inventory

• Conduct regular stock counts and cycle checks
• Organise storage areas to maximise space and efficiency
• Flag low stock, damaged goods, or slow-moving inventory to management

Person Specification

Essential

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or facilities role
• Comfortable with manual handling and physical tasks
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a team
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices

Desirable

• Forklift licence (or willingness to train)
• Experience with warehouse management or stock control systems
• Basic maintenance or DIY skills
• Full UK driving licence
