ABOUT THIS ROLE

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be TAG Live®’s principal operational Health & Safety manager, supporting the business to maintain safe, compliant and practical working arrangements across our varied portfolio of entertainment, leisure and visitor-facing activities.

This is a hands-on role. You will work across the business, from our HQ through to client sites, live events, entertainment productions, technical operations, sports and leisure activities and water-based experiences.

You will provide competent advice, establish appropriate standards and provide assurance that those standards are being implemented effective.

A key part of the role will be supporting TAG Live® as it continues to develop its B2C events, visitor experiences, sports and leisure activities and water-based operations.

You will work closely with operational teams to find safe and proportionate ways of delivering ambitious projects and experiences.

The role will also support the continued development of TAG Live®’s Health & Safety management system, ensuring that policies, risk management, training, incident reporting, audits and corrective actions work together as one practical system.

The role will primarily be remote working, with regular attendance at TAG Live® HQ in Stewartby, Bedfordshire, regular travel to project and client sites throughout the UK and occasional overseas travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

H&S Management

• Own and continually improve TAG Live®’s Health & Safety management system, policies, procedures and standards.
• Maintain effective arrangements for risk management, training, incident reporting, audits, compliance and corrective actions.

Risk Management & Operational Safety

• Provide competent, practical H&S advice across TAG Live®’s projects, activities and workplaces, including the development and review of risk assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Support operational teams to manage their own risks effectively, providing challenge and assurance where required.

B2C Events & Visitor Experiences

• Lead H&S support from concept through to operation for TAG Live®’s consumer-facing events, attractions and experiences.
• Ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for areas including crowd management, emergency response, fire, weather, capacity, temporary structures, contractors and opening readiness.

Sports, Leisure & Water Activities

• Provide H&S assurance across TAG Live®’s sports, leisure, adventure and water-based activities.
• Ensure appropriate standards are established for participant safety, supervision, operating ratios, rescue arrangements, equipment, weather conditions, activity restrictions and staff competence.

Live Entertainment & Technical Production

• Support H&S across live productions, touring shows, rehearsals, entertainment installations and technical operations.
• Provide appropriate oversight of areas such as working at height, electrical safety, lifting, temporary structures, staging, equipment and installation/de-installation.

Contractor & Supplier Management

• Develop and maintain proportionate H&S assurance arrangements for contractors and suppliers, ensuring competence, RAMS, insurance, certification and relevant documentation are appropriately reviewed.
• Work with operational and procurement teams to ensure H&S requirements are considered before appointment.

Incident Management & Investigation

• Own TAG Live®’s incident and near-miss reporting arrangements and lead investigations into significant incidents.
• Manage RIDDOR reporting where required, identify learning and ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.

Audit & Assurance

• Develop and deliver a risk-based H&S audit and inspection programme across TAG’s operations.
• Monitor actions, identify trends and provide appropriate escalation and assurance to management.

Emergency & Crisis Preparedness

• Support the development, review and testing of emergency arrangements across TAG Live®’s activities and events.
• Ensure learning from incidents, exercises and operational experience is incorporated into future planning.

Training, Competence & Culture

• Oversee H&S requirements for onboarding, training and competency, developing practical briefings and training where required.
• Promote a positive safety culture where teams understand their responsibilities, enabling safe delivery rather than creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Health, Wellbeing & People

• Work with HR to support TAG Live®’s health, wellbeing and mental health strategies.
• Provide practical advice and support on workplace health matters within the scope of the role.

Sustainability & Environmental Compliance

• Support TAG Live®’s sustainability and environmental objectives, working with relevant teams to identify and manage environmental risks and compliance requirements.
• Support the development of practical environmental standards and initiatives across TAG Live®’s operations, including where relevant to client requirements, tenders and future ISO 9001/14001 requirements and readiness.

Clients & External Stakeholders

• Represent TAG Live® on H&S matters with clients, venues, contractors, insurers, local authorities, consultants and relevant regulatory bodies.
• Support client due diligence, tender submissions and project mobilisation.

Reporting & Governance

• Provide regular H&S reporting to senior management, highlighting significant risks, incidents, audits, training, actions and emerging issues.
• Support longer-term H&S planning and continual improvement across the business.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who can combine strong technical Health & Safety knowledge with practical operational experience.

You will be comfortable working with creative and operational teams, challenging decisions where necessary and finding proportionate solutions that allow projects to move forward safely.

You will need to be confident working independently, managing competing priorities and operating across a business where no two projects are necessarily the same.

 Essential

• Proven practical experience managing Health & Safety across multiple projects, sites, activities or operational environments.
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification and/or equivalent recognised professional experience.
• Strong experience developing, reviewing and implementing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Experience conducting Health & Safety audits and operational inspections.
• Strong incident investigation experience.
• Good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to influence managers and operational teams without relying solely on authority.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with managers and operational teams without relying solely on authority.
• Comfortable working on operational sites and travelling to client locations.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work flexibly around live events and operational requirements, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Comfortable supporting projects outside the UK where required.

Desirable

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent higher-level qualification.
• IOSH membership or working towards professional membership.
• Experience within live entertainment, events, visitor attractions, leisure, sport, hospitality, outdoor recreation or a similar operational environment.
• Sports and leisure Health & Safety experience.
• Water-based, open-water or aquatic activity safety experience.
• Lifeguarding, water-rescue or relevant specialist activity knowledge.
• Visitor attraction or theme-park experience.
• Event Safety Management experience or qualification.
• Fire safety knowledge or qualification.
• CDM knowledge.
• Technical production, temporary structures or staging experience.
• Experience working with local authorities, insurers or enforcement bodies.
• Experience supporting international projects and understanding how Health & Safety requirements may vary between jurisdictions.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

This is a permanent, full-time role with a remote-first/hybrid working arrangement. The role will require regular attendance at TAG Live® HQ and travel to client and project sites throughout the UK, with occasional overseas travel.
