Our UK maritime team is growing, and we’re looking for an Electrical / Avionics Production Team Lead to lead the electrical assembly, wiring, avionics installation and system integration of our autonomous maritime vessels from our Fareham facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage and support a team of electrical technicians, electricians and production staff, ensuring electrical and avionics production is delivered safely, efficiently, to specification and on schedule. You’ll also play a key role in establishing production processes, driving Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement as we scale our UK production capability.
What you’ll do:
- Lead, coordinate and support a team of electrical and avionics production technicians.
- Allocate work, monitor progress and ensure production schedules are achieved.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to the production team.
- Oversee electrical assembly, panel wiring, cable harnessing, equipment installation and avionics integration.
- Support the installation and integration of power distribution, communications, navigation, sensors, control systems and other vehicle electronics.
- Ensure electrical and avionics work meets engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, quality requirements and applicable maritime standards.
- Coordinate closely with Mechanical, Software, Systems Engineering and Quality teams throughout vehicle assembly and system integration.
- Lead electrical testing, fault-finding, inspection and commissioning activities.
- Identify and resolve electrical, wiring, avionics and integration issues during production and testing.
- Ensure appropriate configuration control, traceability and production documentation is maintained.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping.
- Identify and eliminate production waste, improve workflows and increase efficiency.
- Develop and maintain standard work procedures, build documentation and production processes.
- Support the development and training of the electrical and avionics production team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, quality and continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in electrical, avionics or electronics production, assembly or integration, ideally within marine, aerospace, defence, robotics or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience leading or supervising a production or technical team.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, power distribution, control systems and electronic equipment integration.
- Experience with avionics, marine electronics, communications, navigation or sensor systems would be highly beneficial.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Practical experience with electrical testing, fault-finding and commissioning.
- Understanding of relevant electrical, maritime, aerospace or defense standards and production quality processes.
- Practical experience applying Lean manufacturing principles in a production environment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- A hands-on, collaborative approach with the ability to lead and develop a growing team.
- Comfortable working across disciplines and getting involved directly in build, integration and troubleshooting activities.
