School Cleaner / Site Cleaner Required – Ilkeston, DE7 6FS

Monday to Friday | 15 Hours Per Week | Term Time Only

⚠️ Important: This role requires TWO visits to the school every day – once in the morning and once in the evening.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking cleaner to join our team at a school in Ilkeston (DE7 6FS).

You will be responsible for keeping the school clean and well maintained, as well as completing the daily unlocking and locking of the premises.

How the Role Works

You will need to attend the school twice every weekday:

🔑 Morning visit – 7:00am: Unlock the school and open the premises.

🔒 Evening visit – 5:45pm: Return to the school, complete the lock-up and secure the premises.

You have flexibility over when you complete your 2 hours of cleaning each day. This can be done either:

• Before the morning opening – approximately 5:00am–7:00am, or
• After the evening lock-up – approximately 5:45pm–7:45pm

The cleaning time is flexible, but the morning and evening site visits are essential.

This means you will attend the site twice per day, Monday to Friday, regardless of whether you choose to clean in the morning or evening.

Total hours: 15 hours per week

Term time only, with occasional deep-cleaning opportunities during school holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the school
• Complete daily cleaning tasks across designated areas
• Use cleaning equipment, including floor machines where required
• Unlock and open the school each morning
• Lock and secure the school each evening
• Ensure the site is left clean, tidy and secure
• Report any maintenance or site issues to management
• Follow cleaning procedures and health & safety requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Previous cleaning experience essential
• Reliable and punctual
• Able to commit to two daily visits, Monday to Friday
• Comfortable working independently
• Experience using floor machines is desirable
• Good understanding of cleaning standards and COSHH is desirable
• Able to provide at least one previous employer reference
• Must be able to reliably travel to DE7 6FS (own transport advantageous)
