Ready to take the next step in your cleaning career?

If you have experience supervising cleaners, leading a team or helping colleagues deliver great standards, we’d love to hear from you.

Spotless Cleaning is an established, family-run commercial cleaning business with over 18 years’ experience and more than 200 cleaning colleagues. We’re looking for a practical, approachable Area Cleaning Manager who enjoys supporting people and takes pride in a job well done.

You’ll join a supportive management team, with BICSc training provided to help you develop your skills.

Your role

You’ll visit sites across Burton, Derby, Nottingham, Lichfield, Tamworth and surrounding areas, helping our cleaning teams deliver the standards our customers expect.

You’ll receive a planned schedule of site visits for each shift, giving you clear direction while allowing you to work independently.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Visiting sites, checking cleaning standards and completing quality audits.
  • Supporting, coaching and encouraging our cleaning teams.
  • Training and inducting new cleaners.
  • Conducting trial shifts with applicants.
  • Building positive relationships with customers and site contacts.
  • Answering cleaner queries and absence calls after the office closes at 5pm.
  • Helping arrange cover through our six Team Leaders, following an established process.
  • Occasionally lending a hand with cleaning when needed.
  • Checking staff clock-outs on Connecteam and completing follow-up work towards the end of your shift.

Support you can rely on

You’ll report to Michael, our Area Operations Manager, with weekly catch-ups and support available when you need advice.

You’ll receive full training in our systems and absence-cover process. Our six Team Leaders provide cleaning cover, so covering full cleaning shifts yourself will be rare. We do need someone who is happy to roll up their sleeves occasionally and support the team.

Working hours and travel

Your regular hours will be Monday–Friday, 2pm–10pm, including a 30-minute unpaid break, making a 37.5-hour paid working week.

A company van and fuel card are provided for travel between sites. You’ll collect and return the van each day at a designated point in Burton-on-Trent, DE14 3AU.

Towards the end of your shift, you’ll return to our office at DE14 1LX to check staff clock-outs and complete follow-up work. You’ll leave the office at 9:45pm, with the final 15 minutes allocated to returning the van. The vehicle return is included within your working hours, so you’ll be finished by 10pm and ready to begin your commute home.

Weekend and bank-holiday telephone cover

You’ll provide telephone support one weekend in every four and share bank-holiday telephone cover equally with Michael.

This involves taking calls and helping coordinate arrangements. You won’t be expected to travel to sites or carry out cleaning during these on-call periods.

Telephone cover is included in the salary, with an allowance of 30 minutes of calls and associated work per on-call day. If the work exceeds this allowance, you’ll receive time off in lieu for the additional time worked.

What you’ll receive

  • £30,000–£32,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
  • BICSc training and support to develop your supervisory skills.
  • Company van and fuel card for business travel during your shift.
  • Company mobile phone.
  • 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by one day for each year of service, up to five additional days.
  • Your birthday off, paid.
  • Annual performance bonus of 2% of salary, paid each April.
  • Christmas bonus, amount decided each year.
  • Regular support from an experienced local management team.
  • Opportunities to develop within a growing family-run business.

What we’re looking for

  • Commercial cleaning experience.
  • Experience supervising, leading, training or supporting other cleaners.
  • An approachable manner and confidence communicating with colleagues and customers.
  • Good organisation and a practical approach to solving problems.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
  • Confidence using a smartphone and willingness to learn systems such as Connecteam.
  • A hands-on attitude and pride in delivering high standards.

You don’t need to have held an Area Manager title before. If you’re an experienced cleaning supervisor or team leader ready for your next step, we’d welcome your application.
