The Procurement Manager role…
As Procurement Manager at Pure Pet Food, you’ll own the end-to-end procurement function – from strategy and supplier relationships through to cost management, inventory optimisation and supply risk. You’ll build the supplier partners and processes that keep our business running smoothly today, while helping shape the supply chain we need to grow into tomorrow.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Strategy
- Develop and implement a procurement strategy that ensures the right materials, at the right quality, at the right time, and at the best total cost.
- Identify sourcing opportunities that reduce cost without compromising quality or service.
- Build long-term supplier partnerships aligned the business objectives and growth plans.
- Support new product development and commercial initiatives through effective and timely sourcing.
2. Supplier Management & Performance
- Source, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers in line with quality, commercial, and compliance requirements.
- Manage supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards and structured business reviews.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, service levels, contracts, and quality expectations.
- Drive supplier innovation, continuous improvement, and escalate corrective actions where performance falls below agreed standards.
- Monitor key supplier metrics including OTIF, quality, performance, complaint levels, lead time adherence, and responsiveness.
3. Cost Management
- Deliver annual cost savings targets and report on procurement savings and cost avoidance.
- Monitor commodity markets and proactively identify inflationary risks.
- Challenge supplier pricing through rigorous benchmarking and market analysis.
- Partner with Finance to track purchase price variance (PPV) and support working capital improvement.
4. Inventory & Supply Planning
- Work closely with Planning to ensure consistent material availability.
- Improve supplier lead times and reduce reliance on emergency purchasing.
- Minimise obsolete stock through proactive demand and lifecycle management.
5. Risk Management
- Identify supply chain risks and develop robust contingency and dual-source strategies.
- Support business continuity planning and maintain supply resilience across critical materials.
- Monitor geopolitical, market, and supplier risks and escalate where appropriate.
6. Compliance & Ethical Sourcing
- Ensure all suppliers meet legal and company requirements including food safety, feed safety, ethical sourcing, sustainability, and Modern Slavery obligations.
- Manage supplier approvals and audit programmes to maintain compliance standards.
- Work with Quality and Operations to resolve supplier non-conformances promptly.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
You’ll work closely with Planning, Operations, Quality, Finance, Product Development, Warehouse, and Logistics to ensure procurement decisions support wider business priorities and do not create downstream risk.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Improve and standardise procurement processes and supplier management practices.
- Implement clear procurement KPIs and dashboards to drive accountability and visibility.
- Support ERP and system improvements, and drive automation where it adds value.

Our qualifications & experience expectations are:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Procurement Manager
- Strong commercial negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and driving performance improvement.
- Strong analytical ability and confidence working with data to make decisions.
- Advanced Excel and ERP/MRP knowledge.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- Food manufacturing, FMCG or pet food experience.
- Experience with demand planning and inventory optimization.
- Knowledge of import/export and international sourcing.
