Description

Purpose of the role

To operate as an independent field engineer delivering planned engineering activities, owning defined work packages and contributing to technical capability development.

Key job requirements and responsibilities

Technical Delivery

• Independently install, configure, maintain and optimise CUAS systems

• Diagnose and resolve complex faults on known systems

• Lead system testing, calibration and performance analysis activities

• Support system integration and configuration activities

• Operate and maintain drone systems across environments

Operational Ownership

• Own assigned tasks and deliverables within deployments

• Prepare RAMS and ensure compliance with HSE and SOPs

• Support customer interactions and operational delivery

Team & Capability Development

• Provide mentoring and support to junior engineers

• Deliver training or knowledge transfer where required

• Contribute to continual improvement and lessons learned

Additional Role Requirements

• Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing and able to travel regularly to customer and operational sites, including overseas deployments

• Be able to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC)

• Be willing to undergo and maintain a ‘fit for work’ assessment via Occupational Health

• Participate in an on-call rota, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays

• Maintain all mandatory training, certifications, licences and technical competencies required

• Be able to meet and maintain the required standard of fitness for work, which may be assessed by an Occupational Health professional where appropriate.

• Be willing and able to undertake national and international travel, including short notice deployments and, where required, extended periods working away from home, in line with business and operational requirements. Qualifications / skills and experience

• Strong understanding of radar, RF theory and sensor systems

• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and integrated systems

• Proven experience in installation, configuration, calibration, testing and maintenance of complex systems

• Good knowledge of networking, IP configuration and system integration

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex faults independently

• Ability to work autonomously across deployments and technical assignments

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience in technical training, mentoring or supporting junior engineers

• Ability to assess technical performance and recommend improvements

• Experience working in operational or customer-facing environments

• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure

• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly

• Experience or interest in UAS (drone operations)

• Good understanding of security threats, vulnerabilities and emerging technologies

• IT proficiency including Microsoft Office and relevant technical tools.
