The NRLA package:

Main Purpose & Scope Of Job:

Ensuring that all NRLA content and products are compliant with the housing law affecting England and Wales

Duties & Key Responsibilities

Compliance Work:

  • Build relationships with different departments and teams in the organisation to identify what projects they are working on and:

– Identify potential risks to the organisation

– Provide guidance on how to remain compliant with the latest housing law legislation

– Provide final review for content to ensure accuracy

  • Manage projects based around upcoming legislation, including:

– Identifying changes to legislation

– Assessing departments’ readiness for change

– Training departments on the upcoming legislation

– Project managing content changes across departments to ensure all content is accurate

  • Work with the Policy and Public Affairs team to inform and advise on the development of NRLA policy related to the private rented sector, and our campaigning.

Resources Activity:

  • Work with Head of compliance to ensure all guidance is kept up to date and accurate
  • Horizon scan for new guide requirements
  • Update template documents regularly
  • Review content on the page for accuracy and improvements on a quarterly basis and ensure they meet brand style
  • Work with comms team to produce video guides and infographics
  • Use AI to develop interactive tools to support members

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Support other members of the team through agreeing action plans and attending meetings, helping to plan projects and providing feedback on consultation drafts
  • Provide training to other departments as needed
  • Attend meetings and events on behalf of the NRLA as required
  • Provide insight & support for any other policy and research activities as required by the organisation
  • Complete monthly report on activities and status of projects

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent academic qualification in law

Skills & Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident in working with other teams and departments
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to produce written content to short deadlines

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a housing related compliance role
  • Interest in the law and legal research

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and SharePoint
  • Prepared to work with and learn appropriate AI tools
  • Excellent knowledge of the housing law related to renting
  • Awareness of devolution and resulting impact on housing policy.
  • Understanding of how legislation is developed and where to research updates to legislation
  • Previous experience working with other teams to ensure their content is accurate and legally sound

Personal Attributes and other requirements:

  • Capable of working from home
  • Occasional travel to events, conferences
