Description

The role of Generator Engineer:

We are seeking a skilled Generator Engineer to join our dedicated Plant Operations Team. In this workshop-based role, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing our fleet of generators, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. You’ll be part of a team that values technical expertise and a commitment to high-quality service, you’ll help deliver the power solutions our customers need. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnose malfunctions or performance issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Repair or replace faulty, worn, or damaged components to restore optimal functionality.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to ensure generators operate within manufacturer specifications, addressing potential issues before they lead to failure.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance to minimise the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
  • Provide prompt and effective turnaround for Off Hires, offering expert advice on best practices to reduce downtime.
  • Guide customers on the proper operation and maintenance of generators to prevent future issues, optimise usage, and minimise downtime.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, conducting safety checks and implementing safe working practices
  • Escalate complex issues to the Plant Operations Manager
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and servicing activities.
  • Uphold high company standards and promote exceptional customer service

  • Demonstrated experience working with diesel generators or similar power equipment, preferably in the plant hire, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Solid understanding of generator operation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • A CSCS Gold Card (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, especially in explaining technical issues clearly.
  • A customer-first mindset.
  • A full UK driving licence.
