About the role
We’re looking for someone to take ownership of how our loan book performs – not just how it is managed.
This role sits above Case Management and Recoveries, and is responsible for ensuring:
- Risks are identified early
- Complex cases are actively managed
- Decisions are made with a clear view of cost, timing, and outcome
You will own both the performance of the live loan book and the quality of the information that underpins credit and funder reporting.
What you’ll be responsible for
-
Owning the loan book day-to-day – ensuring all material cases are actively managed, risks are identified early, and there are no “unknown unknowns”
-
Driving case-level inputs into credit and funder reporting – ensuring portfolio reporting reflects the true risk position, not outdated assumptions
-
Applying a risk-weighted view across the portfolio – prioritising time and resource based on exposure, risk, and likely outcomes
-
Owning strategy for complex or high-risk cases – defining approach, making decisions (e.g. pursue vs settle), and ensuring execution aligns to desired outcomes
-
Improving recoveries decisions and cost control – including risk/cost analysis of enforcement actions and oversight of legal spend
-
Leading the Case Management and Recoveries functions – providing functional leadership to the Case Management Lead and Recoveries Lead, setting direction, driving accountability, and managing performance across both teams
-
Building a more scalable Loan Operations function – improving processes, workflows, and system usage (Salesforce + other tools), reducing reliance on individuals
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a case-based, analytical or operational role (e.g. credit, lending, consulting, restructuring, operations)
- A track record of owning outcomes and improving them – spotting what could work better, making decisions, and following through to delivery
- A clear example of bringing structure or efficiency to a process, workflow, or case portfolio – what they changed, why, and what it delivered
- Strong judgement, with the ability to make consequential decisions using incomplete or evolving information
- Ability to identify and assess risk proactively – staying ahead of how situations develop and acting before issues escalate
- Clear and structured communication, with the ability to distil complex, multi-variable situations into simple, actionable conclusions
- Comfortable challenging assumptions across teams and functions where it improves the outcome
- Has used AI to summarise, structure, or interrogate complex information (e.g. legal documents, case histories, data sets) and turn it into a clear recommendation
-
Comfortable working alongside AI tools in day-to-day tasks, with the critical judgement to know when outputs need to be challenged, verified, or escalated
Why this role is different
- You will be responsible for real decisions on live cases with financial consequences, not just analysis or process
- You will sit at the intersection of credit, operations, and recoveries, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders
- You will play a key role in building a scalable Loan Operations function, with a clear path to Loan Ops Director
Nice to have
- Experience in lending, financial services, or legal environments
- Exposure to recoveries, restructuring, or enforcement processes
- Experience working with loan management systems or operational workflows (e.g. Salesforce-based lending platforms, Phoebus, Mambu, nCino, Aryza, or similar)
- Background in consulting or fast-scaling businesses
- Experience using AI tools within a lending, legal, or financial services context
- Has applied AI tools to improve a reporting or operational workflow – not just used them, but embedded them into how work gets done
- Has experimented with AI-assisted decision support (e.g. risk flagging, scenario modelling, document analysis)
