Job Description for Legal Cashier – 2026

 

 

  • client ledger reconciliations, allocations, corrections
  • Processing invoices, expense claims, and payments. 
  • SRA compliance aware
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Taking Worldpay payments from clients via telephone
  • Assisting with unbilled, billed and unpaid disbursements and allocations
  • Raising Private Bills
  • Closing & archiving files
  • Dealing with daily email & telephone queries from all staff
  • Dealing with third parties, experts or suppliers, agents, freelancers and consultants and assisting with queries by telephone and email, keeping good relationships.
  • BACS, CHAPS, and other payment runs – client and office account, this includes completions and checking completion statements, setting up client to office transfers.
  • Ensuring reporting and follow up action is taken as required to comply with SRA client to office transfers, office account credits.
  • Dealing with fee earners regarding client ledgers and any other queries.
  • Checking crime invoices re LAA requirements / LF1 interim claims & Applying for Civil payments on account for disbursements from the LAA
  • Following up on Crime invoices disbursement queries
  • Sorting client credit balances / residual balances
  • Sorting office credit balances
  • Working through matter balances report and resolving ledgers balances
  • Helping with month end procedures and running off reports.
  • Legal Aid experience preferable but not essential.
  • Assisting with audit preparation
  • Assisting team members with account reconciliation and postings (UBER, Trainline, HMCTS PBA Account) to the purchase ledger, direct debits postings.
