Family Caseworker – Canterbury Office
We are seeking a permanent, full-time Family Caseworker for our busy Canterbury office to join our expanding Family team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paralegal or Caseworker who is looking to take on greater responsibility for their own caseload and develop their career within Family law.
Your Profile
You will preferably:
- Have experience working within Family law, ideally with experience of managing or assisting with your own caseload.
- Have a strong understanding of Family law and an interest in developing your experience across both public and private law matters.
- Be confident dealing directly with clients and other professionals.
- Have strong organisational and communication skills.
- Have the ability to manage your workload effectively and work under pressure.
- Be capable of working independently while benefiting from appropriate supervision and support.
The Role
The successful candidate will be able to run cases in their own right with supervision and will take responsibility for a range of Family matters.
You will:
- Provide the highest level of client care in the management of client matters.
- Manage your own caseload under appropriate supervision.
- Undertake both public and private law Family work.
- Provide support to Fee Earners where required, helping to ensure the effective management of the wider team caseload.
- Build strong relationships with clients and internal and external parties.
- Ensure that files are managed effectively and accurately, including creating letters and documents on the case management system.
- Attend clients and take detailed notes.
- Complete public funding applications where required.
- Collate and redact large volumes of documentation for Court bundles where necessary.
- Liaise with local authorities, the Police and medical professionals to request and receive documentation.
- Liaise with Courts and experts as required.
- Take responsibility for progressing matters efficiently and ensuring that deadlines and case requirements are met.
- Undertake fee-earning work and contribute to the continued development of the Family department.
