Location: Hovefields Avenue, Basildon, SS13 1EB 

Hours: 42.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus Saturdays when required 

Salary: Earning potential from £30,000 per year

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Recycling Operative to support the day-to-day operations at our busy Basildon site.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving vehicle depollution, the safe removal and storage of vehicle parts, general recycling duties and the operation of plant and equipment where appropriately qualified. The role is primarily outdoors and involves manual work and heavy lifting.

Full training will be provided where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Depolluting End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs)
  • Safely removing and storing car and motorcycle parts
  • Removing tyres and batteries
  • Carrying out duties on the picking line
  • Undertaking banksman duties
  • Operating plant, equipment and forklift trucks where qualified
  • Completing all required paperwork accurately
  • Inspecting and maintaining plant and equipment
  • Reporting faults or defects immediately
  • Working closely and communicating effectively with other teams
  • Following instructions and established site procedures
  • Complying with all environmental and health and safety policies
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working area
  • Supporting with other duties as required

  • Be physically able to carry out manual work involving heavy lifting
  • Be reliable and have a strong work ethic
  • Work accurately and demonstrate good attention to detail
  • Communicate well and work effectively as part of a team
  • Follow instructions and site procedures
  • Take a proactive approach to health and safety
  • Be confident working with a wide range of vehicle makes and models

Previous experience in vehicle mechanics would be beneficial but is not essential.
