Nursery Practitioner (Level 2)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Nursery Practitioner (Level 2) to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the daily routines of the nursery, ensuring children’s safety, and providing stimulating and nurturing play and learning experiences. You will work closely with colleagues and parents to help every child thrive while gaining valuable experience in childcare and early years education.

Key Responsibilities:

Childcare & Learning

Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework.

Observe and extend children’s learning, maintaining accurate records for allocated key children.

Contribute to creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for children.

Support children’s daily routines, including meals, rest, toileting, and hygiene.

Provide comfort and care to children, including when unwell.

Teamwork & Collaboration

Work as part of the nursery team, promoting a positive and supportive environment.

Support colleagues, students, and new staff in their roles.

Be flexible and willing to assist across rooms and with domestic tasks as required.

Attend staff meetings and contribute to the nursery team’s development.

Partnerships & Communication

Build positive relationships with parents and carers, promoting partnership and involvement in their child’s learning.

Communicate effectively with parents regarding children’s progress, incidents, and daily routines.

Support the integration of children with additional needs, working alongside the SENDCO where required.

Health, Safety & Safeguarding

Ensure safeguarding policies are followed, raising concerns promptly.

Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children at all times.

Record accidents, incidents, and medication in line with nursery procedures.

Support children’s nutritional needs and promote good manners at mealtimes.

Respect confidentiality in line with nursery policy.

Understand and adhere to child protection, health, and safety procedures.

Requirements

Level 2 childcare qualification (or equivalent) – essential.

Basic knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development.

A caring, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to working with children.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

Willingness to continue training and professional development.
