About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to lead our team and ensure the delivery of outstanding childcare and early education. This role requires strong leadership, excellent knowledge of the EYFS framework, and the ability to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for children, staff, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

Provide day-to-day leadership of the nursery, assuming full responsibility in the absence of the Area Manager.

Ensure compliance with all nursery policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.

Support, develop, and motivate staff to deliver the highest standards of practice.

Lead by example and act as a role model for excellent childcare.

Childcare & Learning

Deliver and oversee high-quality learning experiences in line with the EYFS.

Plan and monitor learning objectives across all age groups.

Promote a play-based approach to learning with stimulating indoor and outdoor environments.

Ensure accurate and timely completion of statutory documents (e.g., two-year progress checks).

Safeguarding & Welfare

Ensure all safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed.

Maintain robust security and safety measures, including collection procedures.

Comply with Data Protection and confidentiality requirements at all times.

Partnerships & Communication

Build strong, supportive relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.

Promote the nursery to prospective and existing families.

Handle complaints and concerns professionally and effectively.

Support smooth transitions for children into and out of the setting.

Operational Excellence

Maintain correct staffing levels and ensure ratios are met.

Oversee and audit administrative, operational, and planning documents.

Support inspections and assist in implementing required changes.

Requirements

Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification (Level 5 or above desirable).

Strong knowledge of the EYFS and statutory requirements.

Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a nursery or early years setting.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety.

Ability to inspire, coach, and support staff development.
