Role Overview

We are seeking qualified and experienced electricians to support the installation of Switchee smart thermostats across residential properties in Liverpool. This role involves replacing existing thermostats, installing associated Boiler Receiver Units (BRU), and ensuring all systems are safely installed, tested, and fully operational.

This is a field-based role working across social housing and private residential properties, with works delivered in phases across various contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install Switchee smart thermostats and Boiler Receiver Units (BRU) in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Safely isolate 240V mains power and carry out all works in accordance with BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • Replace existing thermostats (hardwired or wireless configurations)
  • Wire BRUs to boilers/heating systems (e.g. combi, Y-plan, S-plan systems)
  • Configure and pair devices, ensuring successful cellular connectivity (no WiFi required)
  • Test heating and hot water systems to confirm full functionality before leaving site
  • Diagnose and resolve wiring or connectivity issues between devices
  • Complete minor works certificates and required documentation
  • Capture and upload installation photos and job records
  • Provide a clear handover and demonstration to residents

Typical Work & Environments

  • Installation of smart thermostats in social housing and private homes
  • Working in boiler cupboards, airing cupboards, and utility areas
  • Supporting energy efficiency and monitoring solutions (including damp/mould monitoring systems)
  • Projects delivered in multiple phases across different housing association contracts

Requirements

Qualifications & Certification:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
  • 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification
  • Ability to complete and sign off Minor Works Certificates

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified electrician
  • Proven experience installing heating controls (combi, Y-plan, S-plan systems)
  • Experience in testing and certification in line with UK wiring regulations

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of electrical safety and isolation procedures
  • Ability to read and follow technical installation manuals
  • Competent in fault-finding and troubleshooting
  • Good communication skills for resident interaction and handovers
  • Organised and able to manage workload efficiently

Working Arrangements

  • Minimum expectation of 6 installations per day
  • Work will be scheduled and managed by the office team
  • Ongoing support provided by Switchee technical teams, field managers, and internal H&S auditors
  • Electricians will receive full product training and induction into company systems and processes

  • Electricians must supply their own tools and testing equipment
  • Flexibility to work across different contracts and locations may be required

Rate:

  •  £75 per completed installation (inclusive of minor works certification)
