Sous Chef

Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team in Bournemouth. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in delivering high-quality dishes and maintaining the overall efficiency of our kitchen operations. This permanent, full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our culinary excellence in the hospitality and catering industry.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and recipe development
• Supervise kitchen staff and ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to a high standard
• Monitor stock levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
• Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and well-maintained
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
• Assist in managing kitchen budgets and controlling food costs

Qualifications:

• Culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
• Excellent culinary skills and creativity in dish presentation
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required (35 hours a week).
