Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Middleton manufacturing site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive engineer who enjoys fault finding, solving problems and keeping production running efficiently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Team Manager, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of production machinery, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement activities.
You’ll work closely with Production to minimise downtime, improve equipment reliability and help ensure our manufacturing operation continues to run safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults quickly and effectively.
- Fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery.
- Maintaining three-phase motors, control circuits and variable speed drives.
- Troubleshooting electrical safety circuits and relay logic.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Completing maintenance documentation using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Supporting continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
- Working safely and complying with all Health & Safety procedures.
- Collaborating with production teams to minimise machine downtime.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who has:
Essential
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with:
- PLC fault diagnosis
- Three-phase motor control
- Relay logic
- AC & DC variable speed drives
- Electrical safety circuits
- Sensors (proximity, optical etc.)
- Experience working with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron or Telemecanique equipment.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
- Good IT skills and experience using maintenance management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
Desirable
- Mechanical maintenance knowledge.
- Experience within high-volume manufacturing.
