Description

Chippindale Plant is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Sales to lead and develop our sales function. The Head of Sales is responsible for delivering sustainable, profitable growth by managing and motivating a high-performing sales team, strengthening our existing customer base, and identifying new business opportunities.

As the Head of Sales, the successful candidate will take ownership of achieving the company’s £15M hire revenue target through strategic planning, strong leadership, and a relentless focus on sales excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of:
    • 3 Area Sales Managers
    • 2 Internal Sales Executives
  • Provide guidance and support to Depot Managers in relation to Hire Desk Managers and Hire Desk Controllers
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and coach team members to maximise individual and team potential

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement a robust sales strategy aligned with company objectives
  • Drive the achievement of the £15M hire revenue target through profitable growth
  • Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities across target markets
  • Strengthen relationships with key customers while expanding the customer base

Performance Management

  • Establish, monitor, and deliver clear KPIs, budgets, and sales targets
  • Track sales performance and provide regular reporting to senior leadership
  • Implement corrective actions where necessary to ensure targets are met or exceeded

Customer & Market Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders
  • Ensure excellent customer service standards across all sales channels
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform strategy

Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Work closely with Depot Managers to align sales and operational delivery
  • Support hire desk functions to ensure seamless customer experience and service delivery
  • Collaborate with other departments to drive efficiency and business growth

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record of successfully managing and developing sales teams
  • Demonstrable experience in driving sales growth and delivering against revenue targets
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities
  • Experience in setting and managing KPIs, budgets, and performance metrics
  • Commercially astute with a focus on profitable growth
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when required
  • Experience within plant hire, construction, or a related industry (preferred)
