The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Pastry Chef to lead the pastry department within one of Yorkshire’s most respected hospitality destinations.

This role requires a highly skilled pastry professional capable of delivering desserts and pastry offerings to a 2–3 Rosette level, whilst overseeing all pastry production across both the acclaimed à la carte restaurant and a thriving wedding and events operation.

Working closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team, you will have the creative freedom to design, develop, and execute seasonal dessert menus that complement the venue’s reputation for exceptional dining. From elegant plated desserts and petit fours to wedding dessert packages, afternoon tea offerings, and bespoke celebration cakes, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of quality, consistency, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the pastry section across restaurant, weddings, and private events
  • Create and develop seasonal dessert menus to a 2–3 Rosette standard
  • Produce exceptional plated desserts, breads, petit fours, afternoon tea items, and event desserts
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Chef to ensure menus remain innovative and commercially successful
  • Manage pastry ordering, stock control, GP targets, and supplier relationships
  • Train, mentor, and develop junior pastry chefs
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are maintained at all times
  • Uphold all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Head Pastry Chef, Senior Pastry Sous Chef, or Pastry Chef in a minimum 2 Rosette environment
  • Demonstrable ability to produce desserts to a 2–3 Rosette standard
  • Experience catering for both fine dining restaurants and high-volume wedding/events operations
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of modern pastry techniques, chocolate work, breads, and dessert presentation
  • Creative flair combined with a strong understanding of commercial kitchen operations
  • A positive, hands-on approach with a genuine passion for mentoring and developing others
  • A team player with a humble, no-ego attitude and a relentless focus on quality
