The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen operations of a luxury hospitality and events venue in Northumberland.

This role is ideal for a chef who enjoys creating elevated yet approachable dining experiences within a boutique hospitality environment focused on guest experience, weddings, private events, and seasonal programming. The owners have recently taken over and are wanting a chef with a vision to grow the Restaurant and events side of the business and be a real asset to the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all kitchen operations and day-to-day food service
  • Create and execute seasonal breakfast and dinner menus
  • Manage food preparation, kitchen organisation, and service standards
  • Lead kitchen staff and maintain a positive working environment
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety standards
  • Manage inventory, ordering, supplier relationships, and food cost controls
  • Collaborate with management on wedding, event, and private dining menus
  • Maintain consistency and high-quality presentation across all services
  • Manage all prep hours required for smooth service execution
  • Ensure end-of-day kitchen cleaning, organisation, and sanitation standards are maintained at all times

Service Schedule

Breakfast Service: 8:00am – 10:00am Dinner Service: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Additional hours outside active service periods will be required for:

  • Food preparation
  • Event preparation
  • Kitchen cleaning and sanitation
  • Inventory and operational duties

The venue also hosts:

  • Small-scale retreats and special events

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of hospitality and event-based service
  • Comfortable managing both restaurant and event catering operations
  • Ability to work independently and lead a small kitchen team
  • Creative, organised, and guest-focused
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and kitchen compliance standards
  • Rosette experience is highly welcomed

As the business grows, additional kitchen and support staff will be added to support operations and service levels.
