About the Service
Jarnac Court is an emergency accommodation service, based in Dalkeith, Midlothian. It is a modern accommodation space, specifically designed to support people who need urgent access to accommodation as a result of homelessness. The service will meet the needs of a range of young people and adults, many of whom will have multi-faceted support needs.
The service supports people with a range of needs, sometimes complex in nature. Some residents have experienced relationship breakdown and trauma, domestic abuse and can have acute mental health needs and / or require support with their substance use.
The service is designed around trauma informed practice, and the staff team works to harm reduction principles. The service has staffing 24/7, to ensure that people receive support whenever they need it.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Night Support Worker to join our expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about a career in social care who wants to gain valuable hands-on experience and enhance their skillset. Role and Responsibilities
• Provide support that positively impacts the person we support’s health and wellbeing
• Contribute towards the co-production of, and then implement support plans
• Be responsible for the delivery of all support and its administration, including tenancy support, health needs, personal development, emotional needs and inclusion.
• Ensure the safe entry and exit of residents and visitors to and from the building including the operation of CCTV equipment
• Resolve disputes involving people we support e.g. local neighbour complaints in line with Care Support Scotland’s policies and procedures
• Participate in a daily hand-over with daytime support staff
• Operate in line with organisational Health and Safety policy and procedures
Essential Skills and Attributes
• Qualified to the level required by the SSSC as a support worker in a housing support service/care at home service, or a willingness to work towards and to successfully complete qualification within the SSSC specified timeframe.
• Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
• Passion for helping people live independently
• Experience or interest in housing, social care, or community support
• Commitment to the values and mission of Care Support Scotland, and to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
Desired Skills and Attributes
• A practice qualification (at least SCQF level 7 or above) recognised by the SSSC, in the category of support workers in a Housing Support Service / Care at Home service, or willingness to work towards this.
• If you’re starting a career in social care or are already working in social care but don’t have the qualifications just yet, we will support you to gain the appropriate qualifications needed to register without condition with the SSSC.
• Previous demonstrable experience working within an adult social care setting
• Understanding of the Care Inspectorate and its purpose
• Understanding of the SSSC and its purpose
• A Positive Behaviour Support, or Trauma Informed Practice qualification or accreditation.

• Please note that night-time working is a requirement of this role
• PVG scheme membership & SSSC registration are requirements of this post
