We are currently looking for a Repairs Supervisor to join our team in Canterbury.
Role Overview:
To oversee and coordinate day-to-day responsive repairs and maintenance operations within a social housing portfolio, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with regulations, and excellent customer satisfaction for residents.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of operatives and/or contractors carrying out responsive repairs and maintenance.
- Allocate, monitor, and manage repair jobs to ensure completion within agreed timescales and KPIs.
- Conduct pre- and post-inspections of works to ensure quality standards are met.
- Manage emergency and urgent repair situations efficiently.
- Act as a key point of contact for residents, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.
- Resolve complaints and service issues professionally and promptly.
- Promote a customer-first approach in line with social housing values.
- Ensure all works comply with relevant legislation and standards (e.g. health & safety, gas safety, electrical compliance).
- Carry out risk assessments and site safety checks.
- Ensure operatives follow safe working practices at all times.
- Monitor team and contractor performance against KPIs (e.g. first-time fix rates, response times).
- Maintain accurate records using housing management/repairs systems.
- Prepare reports for senior management on performance, issues, and improvements.
- Assist in managing budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of repairs.
- Approve variations and monitor materials usage.
- Work to reduce void times and minimise repair costs without compromising quality.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, support, and guidance to operatives.
- Conduct toolbox talks, training, and performance reviews.
- Foster a positive and productive team culture.
You Will Need:
- Experience in social housing repairs, maintenance, or property services.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance trades (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical).
- Experience supervising teams or contractors – essential
- Good understanding of UK housing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- IT literacy (repairs systems, scheduling tools, reporting software).
- SMSTS qualification – essential
- ONC building qualification /Equivalent trades qualification – essential
- Knowledge of the NHF schedule of rates-Desirable
- Full UK driving licence.
