We are currently recruiting for an Aids & Adaptations Supervisor to join our team in Kingston Upon Thames.
Role Overview:
To manage and supervise the delivery of aids and adaptations services across the housing stock, ensuring that disabled and vulnerable residents receive timely, high-quality adaptations that enable them to live safely and independently. The post holder will oversee contractors and staff, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and provide excellent customer service throughout the process.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the delivery of minor and major adaptations to residents’ homes.
- Manage referrals received from Occupational Therapists and other health and social care professionals.
- Ensure works are completed within agreed timescales, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prioritise cases according to risk and resident need.
- Monitor performance against service targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee contractors and suppliers undertaking adaptation works.
- Carry out inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with specifications and health and safety requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance and address any issues relating to quality, cost, or customer satisfaction.
- Approve completed works and authorise payments in accordance with financial procedures.
- Act as the main point of contact for residents throughout the adaptation process.
- Liaise effectively with Occupational Therapists, Adult Social Care teams, healthcare professionals, and internal departments.
- Respond to enquiries, complaints, and complex cases in a timely and professional manner.
- Promote customer satisfaction and ensure vulnerable residents receive appropriate support.
- Ensure all adaptation works comply with:
- Equality Act 2010
- Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Building Regulations
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) requirements (where applicable)
- Relevant social housing standards and organisational policies
- Undertake post-inspections and maintain accurate records of works completed.
- Support budget management and ensure value for money is achieved.
You Will Need:
- Experience of delivering aids and adaptations services within social housing, local government, or property maintenance.
- Knowledge of disability adaptations and accessible housing standards.
- Experience supervising contractors and monitoring performance.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010 and health and safety regulations.
- Experience managing budgets and ensuring value for money.
- Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience handling complex and sensitive cases involving vulnerable residents.
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Studies, Construction, Housing, Property Maintenance, or a related discipline.
